About Center Wise

A Tokyo practice devoted to application audit of payroll management applications — careful work for teams who cannot afford quiet errors in pay.

Origin

Center Wise began in Minato-ku when two former shared-service payroll leads grew tired of finding the same configuration surprises after every vendor upgrade. Rather than joining an implementation house, they built a small audit practice that reads payroll applications the way operators actually use them — screen by screen, rule by rule.

We remain intentionally small. Engagements are led by people who have closed Japanese payroll cycles, not by generalist consultants rotating through industries.

How we work

  • We name the application and version in every engagement letter.
  • We prefer read-only access and sampled pay runs over broad data extracts.
  • Findings are written so payroll operators and finance directors can both act on them.
  • We decline work that requires us to implement changes inside your system — independence matters.

Values in practice

Independence from software vendors. Respect for the payroll team’s calendar during peak cycles. Clear Japanese and English reporting when both audiences need the same facts. We measure success by whether your next pay run runs quieter — not by how many slides we produce.
